18 Wheels

September 6, 2017

Monday; just another day in the life of a long haul truck driver, but to us it is something entirely different. When we opened the doors on that 18 wheeler we didn’t see 42,000 pounds of dog and cat food, we saw thousands of faces that will eat tonight.  The joy that that 42,000# brings with it is immeasurable.

It is the joy of waking up in the morning and being greeted by your reason for living for a homebound senior. It’s the comforting joy of knowing that when you have been beset with catastrophic circumstances your pets will eat until you can get back on your feet again. It’s the joy of knowing that when you take on the task of rescuing and sheltering, there is someone who has your back. Nothing can compare to this kind of joy. It wells up from the very core of your being.

There are a lot of moving parts that happen when a gift of this size arrives on our doorstep. There is the Rescue Bank for providing this life saving cargo. There is the trucking company that receives it for us and delivers it to our door. Our neighbors help us unload, and you, the people that believe in us and our mission, make this all possible.

So from the bottom of our hearts, we say thank you on behalf of all the lives, both human and animal, that you touch with your support. This is the joy we all share with the arrival of an 18 wheeler.
