Bookmobile with AniMeals
Need a little break from the holiday whirlwind? Wondering what to do on a Tuesday afternoon at the end of December or with the kids out of school? Join AniMeals on Tuesday, December 30th from 4-6pm when the public library’s Bookmobile comes to the cat-centric shelter bringing lots of books for all ages and interests to read. Probably even some cat tales.
Cats love the sound of a person’s voice reading to them and the social interaction is great for cats and people alike. Kids can pick from a wide selection of books to read themselves or pick a cat room and a cat to read to.
Cats are fascinating creatures as we all know; they’re independent yet affectionate, curious but cautious. As much as we love them, cats sometimes struggle with stress, especially in unfamiliar environments, especially in a shelter, though we try to make it as much like home as we can. But reading to cats can help reduce anxiety, strengthen the cat-human bond, and even bring them joy. This simple act of reading to a cat or cats who are paired up and bonded at AniMeals, can transform them into confident critters and helps them become more relaxed and socialized while they await adoption.
The event is free but you are encouraged to bring something for the Animal Food Bank such as kitten kibble, clumping litter, toys or treats. Everything is helpful to AniMeals, which distributes cat and dog food and supplies to those in need.
AniMeals is located at 1700 Rankin Street off of Charlo and West Broadway, adjacent to Gulls RVs and Boats.
AniMeals MardiPaws Montana
On Friday, March 20th, 2026, AniMeals MardiPaws Montana invites you for an unforgettable evening of celebration Mardi Gras style!
AniMeals No Kill Adoption Center and Animal Food Bank will host its second annual Masquerade/Carnival Ball at the Wilma featuring the classic sounds of Missoula’s own Tom Cats and 406! You must be 21+ to attend.
Doors open at 7:00 P.M. Music starts at 8:00 and rocks your world until 11:00! The event is held in the historic Wilma. All proceeds from the Gala benefit the AniMeals shelter.
Before the Gala:
Cat Walk
Join us in your best feline attire - be as wild as you dare - from 5:00 to 7:00 for the Mardi Gras Cat Walk and Happy Hour as we wind through the streets of downtown Missoula, stopping at local bars and cafes that sponsor this year’s Gala event before arriving at our Wilma destination, where the party continues through the night.
Dress in outrageous Mardi Gras costumes or feline attire and let the good times roll! It’s a great way to start the party at Missoula’s favorite watering holes!
Of course, our top priority is for you to be safe and have a great time! Please don't drink and drive. Call a cab, Lyft, or Uber, or have someone be a designated driver. Again, you must be 21 to participate. The event goes on rain, snow, or shine!
